CFC Res. v Totton - 7th November
Posted: Saturday 7th November 2009

Images will be available shortly
A good match which lifted the heads of the Reserves after a few recent luke warm matches. A result that was played for on a surprisingly not too cold afternoon at Hurn Bridge. A few 'off the ball' incidents unfortunately dampened spirits on what was an afternoon of entertaining football with good chances being created by both teams.

The First team also had a successful day to pull back a 3-2 win after trailing 2-0 at half time away to Blackfield & Langley. Tom Jeffes getting one and Ben Osborne two.

CFC v Bournemouth - 3rd November
Posted: Wednesday 4th November 2009

A spirited first half and a well started second half had CFC at least holding their own against the higher placed opponents. Attacks had little momentum in the 2nd half and opened holes which Bournemouth used to push into the Christchurch half.

Christchurch FC v VT FC
Posted: Wednesday 8th April 2009

Some matches stand out from all others. Usually this is either the quality of football or the result. This match had both. Spectators were treated to one of those matches that provided quality football from beginning to end. The superb play from both teams demonstrated to any doubters what non-league football is all about. Sweeping attacks, single runs, precision passing, tight defending, great keeping and class goals. You could not have wished for more from an evenings football. Goals for Christchurch came from Marc Fairbrother, Gareth Barnes and Martin Lawrence. A full match report and images are available on-line for this match. Christchurch Man of the Match was Gareth Barnes, pictured with Club President Joss Jenkins.

Christchurch FC v Hamble ASSC
Posted: Tuesday 7th April 2009

A fine spring day was the setting for this match which brought back to Christchurch a number of familiar faces in the opposing team. Recovering from the recent upset at Fleet the Christchurch team put on a strong display which was matched by our opponents. Chances were taken by both teams and the goal that gave Christchurch the match was a goal line scramble with the ball finally getting put in the net by Marc Fairbrother (an own goal after deflecting off of a Hamble defender). Christchurch Man of the Match was Tom Price (pictured).

Final Score: Christchurch   1     Hamble ASSC   0

Christchurch FC v Poole Town
Posted: Tuesday 17th March 2009

An early goal for Christchurch was a wake up call for our visitors who promptly equalised. Both keepers had a busy first half as both teams pushed attack after attack. Poole Town netted another to enter the second half with a goal lead. Another goal for Poole Town in the second half put the match firmly in the visitors hands. Christchurch Man of the Match was Chris Dillon (pictured).

Final Score: Christchurch   1     Poole Town   3

Christchurch FC v Laverstock & Ford
Posted: Saturday 14th March 2009

Looking good from the off Christchurch had two in the net within 13 minutes in an afternoon of entertaining football. Ben Osborne (pictured) and Gareth Barnes both netted three goals for a hat-trick each. Man of the Match was Ben Osborne.

Final Score: Christchurch   6     Laverstock   1

In a moving tribute to Marc Burrows the Hayling United chairman, Mr. Michael Thornton, presents the Club President, Josh Jenkins, with an inscribed plate.

Christchurch FC v Hayling United - 28th February
Posted: Thursday 5th March 2009

Our visitors certainly made us work in the first half and at times looked as if they would firmly control the match. The second half was a very different story with Christchurch responding to the first half pressure and returning it with a little extra. Pictured is the new signing for Christchurch FC, Jamie Davidson. Man of the Match was awarded to Chris Dillon. Further images of this match are in the Image Gallery.

Final Score: Christchurch 2     Hayling 1

Christchurch FC v Bournemouth Poppies
Posted: Sunday 1st February 2009

Biting cold and a stiff breeze did not stop this match quickly warming up. Team Physio (Mike Dillon standing in for Tish Ford) seemed to be on the pitch attending to a player every few minutes at one point. An early goal for Bournemouth focused attention and then there was no looking back. Goals for Mark Smith and Gareth Barnes (a superb long cross and header) in the first half gave Christchurch the lead at half time. The second half saw good play from both teams with both sides challenging the keepers. Simon Keates came on as a late sub and within 2 minutes had firmly clinched the match for Christchurch with the third Christchurch goal.

Christchurch FC v FC Clacton - 24th January
Posted: Sunday 25th January 2009

Despite all the concerns about the weather and the pitch the 4th Round Carlsberg FA Vase tie with FC Clacton kicked off at 3pm. at Hurn Bridge. Recent form told us that we would be playing to win and despite a few minutes of early pressure that is what the team set about doing. A 2-0 lead at half time for Christchurch was not enough to stop 'the Seasiders' plugging away and determinedly trying to get back into the match. Christchurch however would not let up and finished the half at 4-0 to take them into the 5th Round with a draw against Chalfont St Peter on the 7th of February.

A full match report is available for this match. Images from this match are on-line.

FA Vase Match - 24th January
Posted: Friday 23rd January 2009

There was a pitch inspection at 6pm on Friday the 23rd of January. At this time the pitch is good to play. There will be a further referees inspection at 1pm immediately before the match. The weather forecast for tonight is good and for Saturday is 'sunny'. Unless there is a significant change in the weather it is expected that the match will be played.

Senior Teams on a roll
Posted: Friday 23rd January 2009

In a week marked by poor weather again the performance of the two senior teams has been far from poor. Both teams had away wins which in itself would be a good result but what should be getting the attention is how convincingly they won. To have two teams playing this well in their respective divisions and cup ties demonstrates the depth of player, coaching and management skill the club now has.

The first team won convincingly at Romsey to finish 6-0 and we can only speculate on how this has set the team up for their FA Vase fixture on Saturday with FC Clacton.

The reserves put in a superb performance at Lymington Town in the Sydenhams Wessex League Combination Cup Quarter Final to win 8-0. This kind of performance bodes well for the team in the coming Semi-Final and the consistency of their play can be seen by their current league position.

Well done to all.

FA Vase Match - 17th January
Posted: Saturday 17th January 2009

The 4th Round Carlsberg FA Vase match at Hurn Bridge with FC Clacton has now been re-arranged for the 24th of January. The 17th was a bit of an anti-climax with many of us disappointed that the match had to be cancelled but the recent weather caused problems for many local teams and matches. Weather permitting the 24th is the new date for Christchurch FC to make history and join the final 16 teams in this seasons competition.

FA Vase Match - 17th January
Posted: Friday 16th January 2009

Due to the recent adverse weather conditions the pitch will need to be inspected at 8.00am on the 17th by an FA representative to ensure it is safe to play on. Subject to this inspection being OK the match is on. Immediately following the inspection an update will be available here and if in any doubt please call the club before travelling.

Christchurch FC v Moneyfields
Posted: Tuesday 13th January 2009

After a series of postponed matches this first round Russell Cotes Cup tie got underway at Hurn Bridge on probably the warmest evening in the past two weeks. An early opening goal for James Burden showed Moneyfields that Christchurch were there to win. Moneyfields responded with an equaliser towards the end of the first half which left both teams looking at a level start for the second half.

The second half was evenly matched until a foul against Gareth Barnes gave Christchurch a penalty. This was taken by Mark Smith to give Christchurch the lead. Both teams made further chances but neither could find another goal in a match that displayed competitive football and was pleasure to watch.
'Man of the Match' was midfielder James Burden.

Final score:
Christchurch FC 2   Moneyfields 1.

Russell Cotes Cup
Posted: Tuesday 6th January 2009

The Russell Cotes Cup 1st Round draw with Moneyfields will now be played at home at Hurn Bridge on the 13th of January. Kick-off 7.45pm.

Christchurch FC v Hamworthy United
Posted: Sunday 4th January 2009

Having recently been matched against Hamworthy and with the two teams sitting next to each other in the league tables this was expected to be a close match. Despite the cold, spectators could not be disappointed as the game showed how competitive and closely matched these two teams are. The single goal of the match was a classy shot from Mark Smith who struck the ball around the Hamworthy wall from a free kick just outside the box. A great start to the New Year. Christchurch 'Man of the Match' was defender Chris Dillon.

Final score:
Christchurch FC 1   Hamworthy United 0.

Christchurch FV Res v Mudeford Mens
Posted: Sunday 4th January 2009

The Reserve team continue their winning ways with a win against Mudeford Mens in the 5th round of the Hampshire Saturday Intermediate Cup played at Chapel Gate on Saturday the 3rd of January. A strong defence and good keeping by the Mudeford team kept the first half to 0-0. Christchurch created good opportunities in this half but could not get one in the net despite rattling the bar on a few occasions. The second half saw Christchurch lift their game and find the target to finish the match 2-0 winners. This puts the reserves in the Quarter Final of this competition.

Final score:
Christchurch FC 2   Mudeford Mens 0.
