As many of our supporters will know our first team manager, Graham Kemp, has decided to step down from his role for personal reasons and take a sabbatical from football to re-charge his batteries.
On behalf of the whole Club, the committee would like to place on record our thanks to Graham and those of his assistants Jim Totczyk and John Macey for the valuable contributions they have made to the success of the team over the last few years and especially in making last year the best ever season in 125 years of our history.
Graham and his team will continue in their roles until a suitable successor can be appointed and the process for this has now commenced. We are looking for a forward thinking manager who can work within the ethos of the Club to develop our youth players, create even more synergy across the reserves and the youth teams and be willing to do so with no playing or expense budget but can harness the passion and desire to win that exists within all our current squads.
The opportunity to work within a well organised club and with a dedicated committee and to be able to play at a first class stadium will, we believe, attract a number of quality applicants.
If you are interested in applying please contact Chairman, Mark Duffy, in the first instance via the e mail address on the website.

Christchurch v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
4th December 2012
A man of the match performance from David Legg could not prevent a last minute goal from sealing a win for Bemerton Heath Harlequins over Christchurch on a cold and damp night at the Bridge.
Bemerton always looked threatening and took the lead as early as the 2nd minute after a corner was not cleared and the ball was bundled into the net, although Church equalised in the 10th minute from a side foot shot inside the penalty area by James Burden. However, despite some promising build up play, Church never really got going in the match and Bemerton always looked like they could create the chances to score another, yet it was not until the final minute of the match that they succeeded when yet again a cross was not dealt with and their number six scored with a header from underneath the crossbar.
You could tell what the result meant to Bemerton who celebrated as though they had won the league but despite this setback Church are by no means out of contention for the title, as we keep saying this is a marathon and not a sprint, there are many more twists and turns to come this season, and we will be amongst the teams fighting at the end to be crowned champions.

I would like to thank all those that attended the Race Night fund-raiser on Saturday in order to raise funds for the ongoing changing room project.
The Club raised approximately £1000 towards the project and it is hoped that this money can be used to buy the much needed doors we require to close the building from the elements and give us the opportunity to start developing the inside of the build.
Special thanks to those who helped on the night in running a Tote, especially Den, Paul, Sue and Alan with a massive thank you to Mollie for encouraging so many people to attend and in co-ordinating sponsors.
On behalf of the committee I can say we are extremely grateful to everybody.

Five Star Performance
5th November 2012
Church stormed back to the top of the Sydenhams League with an emphatic display against Totton and Eling on Saturday. In what could have been a tricky game against a team that had lost only twice this season and with Church having a disappointing result in the Sydenhams Cup midweek, a return to the league brought the kind of display that the manager would have demanded with Ben Osborne hitting a hat trick
A difficult away trip on Tuesday to Fareham Town (FA Cup conquerors) now awaits the team, a positive result there could put Kempy's men in a strong position as we head towards the key December period.

Sydenhams League Cup
31st October 2012
Church bowed out of the league cup after losing to Blackfield and Langley at the Bridge on Tuesday evening.
The hosts had their backs to the wall after the first minute when keeper Collins was adjudged to have brought down the Blackfield number 10 in the box and was promptly sent off. This immediately brought about a change as substitute keeper Frampton was sent on to face the resultant penalty. This was scored and followed up 30 minutes later by another goal.
Church came out in the second half full of fight and determination and promptly pulled a goal back from the tirelessly working Cook, after this it was Blackfield who were having to defend stoutly as Church piled on the pressure and had several excellent chances to grab an equaliser without having the luck or success to manage it. As the team kept pushing forward they got caught on the break and with virtually the last kick of the game Blackfield made it three and certainly gave a flattering look to the final score.
Well done to Blackfield and Langley who were extremely lively from the start of the match but Graham Kemp will be more than encouraged with the performance of his players after performing exceptionally as a 10 man unit, with a work rate that defied their one man disadvantage.
It is now a total focus on the league starting this weekend against Totton and Eling.

Sydenhams Premier League
26th September 2012
Christchurch continued their excellent start to the season with a stop/start performance against G E Hamble in a game of two contrasting halves.
The visitors started brightly harrying every Church player with the ball with two or three of their own players in an effort to prevent space and time on the ball, however, it then seemed that they went into personal battle with the referee on every decision and this seemed to consume all their focus and energy. Whatever the merit of questioning decisions you would hope that all players would know "when to give it up" and just get on with the game, but on this occasion they didn't and ultimately it did have a bearing on the game.
Taking nothing away from Church they deserved their victory for the chances they created and the football they played and with another clean sheet Graham Kemp can be extremely pleased with the evening's work. The team are playing some excellent football and will hope to maintain their current form in two difficult away games at Alresford and Newport, remaining unbeaten is the aim.

FA Youth Cup 1st Qualifying Round
19th September 2012
Church gained an excellent win over local rivals Wimborne Town at Hurn Bridge on Wednesday evening to progress to the next round and an away tie against Sholing FC.
George Gunn's young charges played some great football and found themselves 4 - 0 up before Wimborne staged a second half comeback that ended in an eight goal thriller. Some great performances across the team give the club a great deal of confidence for the rest of the season and beyond.

Sydenhams Premier League
18th September 2012
Christchurch maintained their unbeaten start to this season's campaign with a workmanlike performance against a New Milton Town team that belied their league position.
New Milton started the brighter of the two teams and took the lead on six minutes when Christchurch failed to clear a through ball into the box, however, only a minute later, from an excellent free kick delivery by Mark Smith, Ross Lloyd rose unchallenged at the back post to head to home side level. Whilst Church were happy to back on level terms, as the half wore on they were looking forward to getting to half time still in the same position, as New Milton pressed and harried and played some attractive football calling upon Jason Collins, in the home goal, to make two good saves. It was with virtually the last kick of the half that saw Church take the lead from close range converted by Man of the Match, Sam Griffin.
The second half started with Church showing more purpose and the game was effectively sealed when Russell Cook, a second half substitute, for Ben Osborne, scored with a low shot to the right hand corner of the net. Chances were now coming more frequent for Church but they could not convert and at the end New Milton were still battling to get back on level terms and came close on a couple of occasions without really stretching the home goalkeeper.
Next up are Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday 22nd September kick off at 3:00pm

Sydenhams League Cup (Wessex) Second Round
29th August 2012
Christchurch recorded an emphatic win against Horndean to move into the next round of the league cup and maintain their defence of the trophy they won last year.
Goals from Harry Cornick, Dan Crutchley, Sam Griffin and Paul Roberts sealed the win for Graham Kemp's side. The all round performance of the team was fantastic and going forward especially it looked like we could score at will, whilst the defence was solid against a striking attack that will cause big problems for many teams this year, in central midfield there were three colossus in Man of the Match, Karl Yelland, Paul Roberts who scored a great solo goal and Mark Smith, who thankfully returned from holiday to support the team, the kind of spirit that epitomises what the squad is all about.
A special mention also for Sam Griffin who had an excellent game and worked tirelessly on the wings and could easily have had a hat trick after scoring and hitting the post twice.

FA Cup Preliminary Round sponsored by Budweiser
24th August 2012
Church earned the right to play either local rivals Wimborne Town or fellow Sydenhams League club Fareham Town in the next round of the FA Cup following a hard earned win against fellow Sydenhams League opposition Alresford Town tonight at the Bridge.
A superbly taken goal in the first five minutes from Harry Cornick should have settled the team against a determined and much changed side from last season but Alresford closed down space and the man with the ball very quickly, which made for a more long ball game looking for runners to exploit space behind the defences and as such it became a bit of a midfield stalemate. Alresford netted deep into added time in the first half with a well taken low shot from 20 yards which set up the game for a very nervy second half.
The second half carried on as the first half finished with both teams denying space to each other, however, it was Church that started to penetrate beyond the defence without being able to convert any chances until midway into the half and in a crowded penalty area the ball broke to captain Dan Crutchley who shot home from close range.
This was a difficult match overcome and now sets the team up for a possible local derby with Wimborne Town.

Christchurch v Blackfield & Langley
18th August 2012
Church continued their great start to the season with a fine win over title hopefuls Blackfield & Langley at the Bridge.
In an extremely entertaining and enthralling game both sides showed their attacking intent and defences on both sides needed to be resolute and organised which is why it took a 35 yard screamer from last season's top scorer, Ben Osborne, to break the deadlock.
With Man of the Match Mark Smith in imperious form in central midfield Church continued their momentum into the second half and they had a bit of luck when Sam Griffin chased down a ball back to the keeper who on trying to clear hit it against him and the ball re-bounded into the net. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors for a while and Russell Cook scored an excellent third goal soon after to seal victory.
Blackfield continued to press forward for a consolation and after a player was pulled down in the box, the resultant penalty was superbly saved by Jason Collins, leaving them with nothing to show for their efforts.
It is too early in the season to say how significant this win could be but it is another clean sheet and puts the players in a great place before their trip away to Romsey on Tuesday and their impending FA Cup match versus Alresford Town next Friday (24th August 2012)

Winning Start to FA Cup campaign
12th August 2012
Christchurch began their cup campaign with a resounding win against Cowes Sports 5 - 0, it was certainly a game of two halves as Church ran in four goals in the first half before the second half degenerated into a scrappy affair, only a sublime solo effort from substitute Harry Cornick finally lighting up the match and put the gloss on a great team effort.
The next round is in two weeks against Alresford Town at the Bridge with date and time to be confirmed, please watch the website and local press for more details.

Sydenhams League Cup Final
7th May 2012
CHRISTCHURCH EMERGED VICTORIOUS IN THE CUP FINAL AGAINST A DETERMINED BROCKENHURST SIDE WHO CERTAINLY PLAYED THEIR PART IN THIS TENSE ENCOUNTER.
TWO GOALS FROM LEADING SCORER BEN OSBORNE, INCLUDING A PENALTY, AND ONE FROM SAM GRIFFIN WAS ENOUGH TO WIN CHURCH THEIR FIRST PIECE OF SILVERWARE IN SENIOR CLUB FOOTBALL.
ON A SUPERBLY PRESENTED PITCH AT BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS BOTH TEAMS HAD THEIR CHANCES TO SCORE FIRST BUT IT WAS CHURCH WHO FOUND THE BACK OF THE NET THROUGH SAM GRIFFIN TO LEAD AT HALF TIME, THOUGH BROCKENHURST HIT THE POST TOWARDS THE END OF THE FIRST HALF.
IN THE SECOND HALF BROCKENHURST CERTAINLY CAME OUT THE STRONGER AND PUT CHURCH UNDER CONSISTENT PRESSURE WITHOUT REALLY THREATENING THE NET UNTIL A WONDER GOAL FROM WARREN KENNA TIED THE GAME. BOTH SIDES CONTINUED TO PRESS AND IT WAS A DEFENSIVE MIX UP THAT LET BEN OSBORNE IN TO PUT CHURCH BACK IN FRONT WITH 15 MINUTES LEFT. A THIRD GOAL FROM THE SPOT SEALED THE WIN FOR CHURCH AFTER BEN OSBORNE CONFIDENTLY PUT AWAY THE KICK.
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE SYDENHAMS LEAGUE (WESSEX) AND THE COMMITTEE AND HELPERS OF BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS FOR HOSTING AN EXCELLENT FINAL, THE HOSPITALITY WAS TREMENDOUS AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK THE OFFICIALS, WITHOUT WHOM THE GAME COULD NOT CONTINUE TO OPERATE.
A GREAT END TO THIS RECORD BREAKING SEASON FOR WHICH ALL THE PLAYERS, MANAGEMENT, BACKROOM STAFF AND SUPPORTERS SHOULD BE EXTREMELY PROUD OF AND FITTING REWARD TO THE LONG SERVING COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND HELPERS WHO PUT SO MUCH EFFORT INTO KEEPING THE CLUB AFLOAT.

Sydenhams League Cup (Wessex) Semi Final
6th March 2012
A gritty and hard fought contest resulted in Church booking their second cup final appearance in the last seven days.
Graham Kemp's team showed great determination to edge through to a final against either Brockenhurst or Bournemouth Poppies after absorbing early pressure from Downton before taking the lead just before half time, Marc Fairbrother finishing off some great work down the right hand flank by Russell Cook, with a sweet side footed shot past the keeper.
Downton came out strong again in the second half but some indiscipline seemed to upset their rhythm and it was Church who took a 2 - 0 lead with a turn and shot in the area from Russell Cook. Church had a great chance to make it three but James Burden could not find the target after a great through ball put him in on goal. Downton came back to make it 2 -1 with just over twenty minutes to go but with the defence superbly marshalled by Dan Crutchley they did not trouble Jason Collins in the Church goal.
A fantastic result for the players, management team and the Club as a whole.

Russell Cotes Cup Semi Final
28th February 2012
Christchurch v Liphook United
Christchurch edged past Liphook in a tense semi final on penalties after the sides finished level at 3 - 3 after extra time.
Christchurch took a 2 - 0 lead into the second half but Liphook showed tremendous grit and determination to take the tie into extra time despite playing the last quarter of normal time with only 10 men.
Church once again took the lead on the first half of extra time only for Liphhook to show great character and level the scores once again and take the game to penalties.
Liphook gave absolutely everything to the game and were a great credit to their club and their league and we would like to wish them good luck for the rest of their league season. Their committee and supporters were also great ambassadors for the club and magnanimous in defeat.
Church now await the outcome of the last semi final being played next week between AFC Totton and Winchester City

Christchurch v New Milton Town
2nd January 2012
A brace of goals from leading scorer Ben Osborne could not deliver a first win of 2012 for Kempy's men against a determined and spirited New Milton Town side who belied their league position and thoroughly merited a draw in the first match of the new year at Hurn Bridge. The featured image is Ben heading in the second of his two goals.
Offensively both sides looked very threatening on a pitch that was playing heavy from the recent rain and certainly both sets of defenders had to be on high alert to keep out the strikers at both ends.
New Milton Town took the lead after some sleepy defending allowed an easy header at the far post with goalkeeper Kearn well beaten. A penalty from Osborne brought the sides level after it was adjudged that Church defender Crutchley had been upended in the area. Half time saw the match all square but Church got an early goal from an Osborne header at the start of the second half, but again some lacklustre defending allowed the New Milton number Nine space to stroke the ball past Kearn for an equaliser.
On the balance Church probably created more chances but New Milton Town always threatened and in the end both sides will believe they could have sewn up all three points, instead they both will have to settle for one.
Church should remain upbeat despite the disappointment of not securing the win, as they are still in a strong position in the league, they are still maintaining an unbeaten run and they are still playing attractive football and delivering a level of performance that many teams would be proud to achieve.
