Christchurch FC mourns loss of its Club President
3rd October 2013
Christchurch FC are saddened to report the death of its Club President, Joss Jenkins, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday 27th September 2013.

Joss who was also President of Christchurch Cricket Club had been associated with both clubs for many years and was instrumental in both clubs finding their home at Hurn Bridge in 1984, having been originally head-hunted by Vickers Armstrong, to set up their Sports and Social Club which eventually developed into the operation we have today at the Bridge. Joss was a keen sportsman and was part of the famous Bournemouth Gas Works side that reached the amateur cup final and he also had trials for both England and Wales as an amateur. During the Second World War Joss was part of the forgotten Arctic Convoys and was, like many of his comrades, recently awarded their long overdue medal for their bravery during this time.

Joss will be fondly remembered by everybody at both clubs, he was firstly a lover of sport and the friendships that it can bring, he was also a man of absolute integrity who understood about the passion of competitive sport but would not condone any kind of poor sportsmanship, he will be sadly missed by all.

The funeral for Joss is to be held at the Bournemouth Crematorium on Friday 11th October 2013 at 11:30am, there will be a gathering for friends and family after the funeral at Hurn Bridge Sports Club.

FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round
17th August 2013
Church bowed out of this season's FA Cup at the first hurdle to a pacey and direct Sherborne team.

Despite taking the lead towards the end of the first half Church could not convert any of their other chances, partly due to some excellent goalkeeping, and this allowed Sherborne back into the game just before half time.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first with both sides pushing forward for a win and it was Sherborne who came up with the goal, when the ball found the back of the net after the third attempt from in the penalty area midway through the half. Church kept pressing but could not find the equaliser, a Jacques Bernard header well saved by the 'keeper being the best chance.

We wish Sherborne good luck in the next round and for the rest of their season and for Cuffie's charges it is another building block in their learning about playing at this level and back to the league starting on Tuesday (20th August 2013) away at Fareham Town.

Christchurch v Winchester City
14th August 2013
Despite the result Christchurch players can hold their heads high after this encounter with a large portion of their successful squad from last season.

Christchurch more than held their own against one of the league's "big hitters" and it could be said they created the two best chances of the game, which unfortunately could not be converted, having been caught out by two sucker punch goals in either half.

This match was definitely your archetypal game of two halves with Winchester more dominant in the first half as the young Christchurch side got to grips with not showing too much respect to their visitors but the second half gave the manager, players and supporters of Church much to be pleased with and they can go into their FA Cup tie on Friday knowing and believing that they are more than a match for the teams in the Sydenhams League.

As Graham Kemp, manager of Winchester City said before the game, this match was only about three points and at this stage of the season we still have 117 points to play for!!

Manager Vacancy
18th April 2013
Christchurch FC can confirm that Graham Kemp has informed the club he will be leaving Hurn Bridge after six successful years at the end of this current season.

As many people will remember Graham initially indicated that he would leave the Club earlier in the year but agreed to stay on when it became apparent the Club would be unsuccessful in their attempt to bring in a new person at that time and he was true to his word and has guided the team to their current third position in the Sydenhams League (Wessex).

The committee would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Graham and his back room team of Jim Totczyk and John Macey for all their hard work over the years. The committee today begin the task of finding a replacement for Graham to further take the Club forward within the league.

We wish Graham all the best in his new role as manager of the newly formed Winchester City Community Football Club, and we would like to, invite any person interested in the position of First Team Manager to contact Chairman Mark Duffy, in the first instance.

Christchurch v Alresford Town
16th April 2013
A superb team performance saw Church overcome 2nd placed Alresford Town 3 - 0 to keep up the pressure at the top of the table on both Blackfield and Langley and Alresfprd Town themselves.

Two goals from Russell Cook and a third by Sam Griffin sealed the points at the Bridge for Graham Kemp's team in a display that showed all the fighting spirit of the players, who were determined they would not be second best at any time.

Man of the Match went to keeper Max Frampton who kept Church in front in the second part of the first half, at a time when Alresford Town were looking their most dangerous but in truth the whole team played magnificently which now sets up a very interesting end to the season.

Next up is G E Hamble on Thursday which will not be an easy game but the players will be determined to ensure that tonight's result was not in vain.

Manager Appointment
30th January 2013
Christchurch FC would like to announce that they have been unsuccessful in their initial search to find a replacement for outgoing manager Graham Kemp. After interviewing all potential applicants for the post, it has not been possible to appoint a suitable replacement at this time, so it is with delight that the Club can announce that current manager Graham Kemp will continue in his role until the end of the season.

Graham always stated that he would not leave the Club without a manager and the committee would like to thank Graham for being true to his word as he looks to guide Church through the remaining games and to another successful season.

The Club would like to thank all those people that applied for the manager's position and for the interest they have shown in Christchurch and we wish all of them every success for the future.

The Club will not seek to make any appointment at this time as this will only cause further unsettlement within the squad and they will now concentrate their efforts towards the end of the season, when Graham will leave the Club to take on new challenges wherever they may be.

Many Thanks

It will come as no surprise to people that tomorrow's match in the Wyvern Combination League against Winchester City has been postponed due the icy conditions at the ground.

The ground at present has a healthy covering of snow which is not expected to melt in time and will probably freeze even more due to expected below freezing temperatures over the next few days.

Tuesday's Sydenhams League game with Newport IoW hangs in the balance and we will keep people informed through the website should the match not be played

Player Bag Sponsor
18th January 2013
We would like to thank Elite Fabrication and Welding Ltd for their support in providing new players bags for the Club.
Without the support of individuals and businesses like Elite, Christchurch would not be able to operate at the higher echelons of the Sydenhams League, we are extremely thankful.

Harry Cornick signs for Cherries
8th January 2013
It was announced this afternoon that young Priory player Harry Cornick has signed an 18 month deal with Bournemouth, though he will continue to play for Church until the end of the season, whilst at the same time competing his 'A' Level education, he will then join Bournemouth permanently.

As stated in the local press the Club will not receive a fee for Harry as he plays on a non-contract basis as do all the players involved with the team, we are hopeful that Cherries will consent to a pre-season friendly as a gesture of recognition for his signature.

Everybody who knows Harry will want to wish him every success as he gives himself the opportunity to make the grade in the professional ranks. We look forward to Harry completing the season with Church and helping the team to maintain their current position in the league.
